Organic Eye Drops

Conventional Eye Drops

❌ Avoid conventional Eye drops you find in regular pharmacies or grocery stores. The majority are made with toxic industrial chemicals of artificial tears. These unhealthy ingredients are absorbed into your bloodstream through the eyes.

Preservatives, artificial chemical ingredients, and additives.

❌ Preservatives: Benzalkonium Chloride (BAK), Chlorobutanol, Methyl Paraben, Sodium Perborate, and Stabilized Thimerosal.

❌ Boric Acid: Buffer found in over 90% of eye drops currently sold in the US. The European Chemicals Agency recently classified boric acid as a “substance of very high concern” with the warning “may damage fertility, may damage the unborn child.” The chemical is used in household kitchen products to control cockroaches and ants.

❌ Sodium Hyaluronate: produced in a lab through genetically modified bacterial fermentation. The bacteria most commonly used in this process is Streptococcus zooepidemicus, sourced from horse nasal swabs, mussel wastewater, and tuna fish waste.

❌ Carboxymethylcellulose: Common eye lubricant, thought to induce inflammatory bowel disease. It causes disruption of the gut epithelial barrier and dysregulation of the immune response in the gut microbiome.

❌ Polyethylene Glycols: Common eye lubricants, the presence of contaminants in these compounds is of concern, including 1,4-dioxane and ethylene oxide, which are known to be carcinogenic and/or highly volatile. Animal studies have shown polyethylene glycol to be damaging to the retina when injected intravitreally.

❌ Propylene glycol: common eye lubricant, it is an antifreeze chemical ingredient associated with skin irritation and allergic reactions, while also being potentially toxic to the kidneys and liver.

Greenwashing Eye Drops

❌ Avoid Greenwashing eye drops made by brands that pretend to be safer, organic, or natural when they are not. They will use marketing tricks to make you buy their products.

They may contain controversial interests such as

Soy which can be full of pesticides, controversial ingredient and gluten which can create reactions or allergies.

❌ Non Organic Glycerin: derived from palm oil responsable for causes of rainforest deforestation worldwide and orangutans extinction.

Silver compounds: Eye drops containing silver sulfate, silver sulphate, or argentum. These can cause discoloration of eye tissues.

❌ Plastic Waste: Brands that claim to be sustainable but they came still in plastic packaging or single vials use.
