What is the best Air Purifier?

An air purifier is a device that removes airborne contaminants in a room to improve air quality.

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) refers to the air quality within and around buildings, especially as it relates to the health of the building’s occupants. Removing common pollutants indoors can help reduce your risk of indoor health concerns.

Particles that can impact Indoor Air Quality include common smoke, bacteria, tobacco smoke, pollen, pet dander, and dust. Other environmental factors include pollution, chemicals, and wildfires

An air purifier is essentially a motor with a fan that draws polluted air into the unit in a room and forces that air through different layers of filter. The purified air is then returned to the room repeating this cycle over and over to improve the air quality effectively.

Here is what you need to look for in the best air purifier:

HEPA Filters

HEPA is a type of pleated mechanical air filter. It is an acronym for “high-efficiency particulate air [filter]” (as officially defined by the U.S. Dept. of Energy). This type of air filter can theoretically remove at least 99.97% of dust, pollen, mold, bacteria, and any airborne particles with a size of 0.3 microns (µm). *Source: epa.gov, What is a HEPA filter?

✅ Activated Carbon

According to the EPA, activated carbon is the best technology in air purifiers to filter gases. Activated carbon adsorbs molecules from harmful chemicals and gases to its surface.

An air purifier is recommended if you live in or near a big city or if you are far away from a rainforest.

If you own pets, or dealing with allergies, you cook more than 3 times a week. If you burn candles, or incense, use a diffuser or have a fireplace. If you are dealing with airborne mold.
