❌ Neoprene: I don’t recommend neoprene dumbbells since it is a synthetic rubber invented by DuPont, a big toxic environmental polluter. He also created Nylon and the toxic non-stick cookware TEFLON.
Neoprene can create allergic reactions and dermatitis. According to chemical safety facts.org: ” Occupational exposure to chloroprene, which is used to make neoprene, can occur through skin contact or inhalation. Workers in neoprene manufacturing settings should take appropriate precautions to reduce or prevent exposure, such as wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus and PPE to minimize contact with skin and eyes.”
❌ Urethane: Avoid dumbbells made with Urethane. Exposure to urethane can affect the central nervous system and liver and can cause bone marrow suppression. Urethan is reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen. (NCI05). Urethane can affect you when inhaled and by absorbed through the skin. It is CARCINOGEN and maybe a TERATOGEN, and a MUTAGEN. Contact can irritate the skin and the eyes. Inhaling Urethane can irritate the nose and throat. Very high exposure can cause headaches, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, lightheadedness, and passing out. Receiving exposure can damage the kidney and liver and may affect the brain and bone marrow.
