Conventional Workout Gloves

Avoid conventional workout gloves made with synthetic toxic materials, additives and manufacturing residues can pose health risks. Synthetic fabrics derived from petroleum, raising concerns about toxicity mainly from their production chemicals and microplastic pollution.

Sweat leaches toxins like PFAS, phthalates, BPA, formaldehyde, and dyes from these synthetics directly onto hands, increasing absorption via pores, follicles, and micro-abrasions—especially problematic for palms gripping weights. Low breathability traps moisture, breeding bacteria and causing blisters, rashes, dermatitis, or fungal infections (up to 70% in sensitive skin during exercise).

❌  Nylon: Nylon gloves shed microplastics under friction (e.g., barbell grips), which can enter sweat glands or be inhaled, leading to inflammation, reduced muscle recovery, lung issues, or hormone disruption; additives like azo dyes worsen irritation.

❌ Polyester: Polyester in glove linings releases antimony and endocrine disruptors more readily with sweat, linked to skin acne, hives, contact urticaria, headaches, fertility issues, and systemic buildup in organs.

❌ PVC/synthetic leather: Most vegan leathers today are made from PVC, petroleum derived. PVC is, for this reason, harmful to the environment.

❌ PU/synthetic leather: synthetic vegan or faux leather. By definition, PU stands for Polyurethane, a plastic polymer derived from petroleum. Even less than PVC, PU still requires petroleum. .
