- ❌ Microplastics and Nanoplastics: Plastic bottles, especially polyethylene terephthalate (PET or plastic #1), shed tiny plastic particles into water, which can carry harmful chemicals and have been linked to diseases like Parkinson’s, cancers, and reproductive effects
- ❌ Painted Bottles: colorful coating are made with undisclosed toxic materials. Colorful paints, powder coats and plastic-based coatings. With use, dishwasher, and heat, they can degrade, flake, peel into microplastic.

Avoid greenwashing water bottles made by brands that pretends to be safer, healthier and more sustainable when they are not. They will use their misleading marketing tricks to convince you to buy their products. Made with controversial material or with controversial manufactoring processes.

High or chronic intake of aluminum has been linked in some studies to neurological issues, kidney problems, and bone‑health interference, especially in people with kidney disease or in children.

While the lead is encased and inaccessible under normal use, damage exposing it (e.g., dents or wear on the base) could allow contact or leaching into drinks, posing risks like neurological harm especially to children.

Owala products, including their water bottles, are primarily manufactured in China.
They don't share publicly they test, you would need to ask them. I wish they dislcose them freely.
They use plastic for some parts.
