Conventional Coffee

Avoid conventional coffee made by brands using coffee full of pesticides and other toxic chemicals that contaminate the land and the final products. They can also use unethical labor practices with abuses and unfair treatment.

Majority of conventional coffee brands sells coffee grown in unhealthy soil that has been chemically treated. It results in:

 

❌ Mold, or the mycotoxins: commonly found in conventional coffee. Mold allergies and mycotoxins trigger a compromised immune system. They can also trigger chronic inflammation. It can impair mitochondrial function, leading to fatigue, brain fog, poor recovery, and even long-term health risks.

❌ Pesticides and Herbicides: Conventional coffee is one of the most chemically treated crops globally, frequently exposed to synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides. 

❌ Heavy Metals: Conventional coffee may contain trace amounts of heavy metals such as copper, arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury.

❌ Environmental Impact: The use of agrochemicals in conventional coffee farming also poses significant risks to farm workers, local communities, and the environment.

Brazil, the world’s largest coffee-growing nation, is under investigation for children and adults working under “conditions analogous to slavery” in some coffee farms.

These workers are exposed to health and safety risks from the use of toxic pesticides in coffee and from living in poor conditions at coffee farms. They are underpaid: less than 2% of the retail price goes to the coffee farmers.

Greenwashing Coffee

Avoid  Greenwashing coffee made by brands that pretend to be organic, natural or eco-friendly when they are not! They will use misleading marketing tricks to convince you to buy their products.

❌ Unproved claims: claim to be”organic,” and they don’t have USDA certification, or they even sell organic coffee, and they claim to be “healthy” when they contain heavy metals, and they don’t offer third-party testing for mold or contaminants. 

To avoid that, pick certified and third-party tested Coffee from more trustworthy companies, not corporations.
