Safer Blenders

Conventional Blenders

Avoid conventional al blenders made with plastic. Plastic Blender are  are a hidden source of microplastics that many people simply don’t think about. Those with plastic jars or pitchers can shed microplastics—and even nanoplastics—into your blended food or drinks, as friction and mechanical abrasion grind tiny particles off the container wall during use.

  • ❌ Plastic jars: often made with BPA or similar endocrine-disrupting chemicals. While the FDA regulates BPA in food-contact plastics, research from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences continues to examine its potential health effects.
  • ❌ Rubber seals – can break down over time, releasing microplastics into food or liquids.
  • ❌ Non-stick heating plates (in some hot and cold models) – may contain PFAS, or “forever chemicals,” which the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency identifies as highly persistent in both the body and the environment.
  • ❌ Polycarbonate: raises health concerns due to bisphenol A (BPA) used in its production.
  • ❌ PFAS coatings:Many food blenders contain PFAS coatings, especially on blades, seals, or “easy-clean” surfaces, risking leaching into smoothies.

Greenwashing Blenders

Avoid Greenwashing blenders made by brands that pretend to be safer, eco-friendly, natural, or better when they are not. They use misleading greenwashing techniques, tactics, and claims to convince you to buy their products!

Made by companies started by venture capitalists and then sold their brand to greedy multinational corporations that often choose to manufacture in China. These companies focus more on profits, cutting quality and costs, and spending on marketing. Reducing safety and quality. These companies use greenwashing tactics in false advertising:  Phrases such as, “Chemical-free Cookware ” are not regulated.

  • ❌ The CA Proposition 65 is a warning only available for California residents. It warns us when a product is made with unhealthy and toxic chemicals. An example of toxic elements for this blender:  “WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including Styrene, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer, and Bisphenol A (BPA), which is known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information,n go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov ”
  • ❌ BPA-Free Tritan™: BPA-free Tritan blenders use synthetic plastic that’s controversial for toxicity, despite manufacturer claims of safety.

Safer  Blenders

I searched for a blender without the California Proposition 65 Warning.

There are many blenders made with toxic materials, and you prefer to have a healthy, organic smoothie or soup made in the safest environment possible. That’s why I also recommend avoiding plastic blenders.

  • ✅  Glass: safer option
