Incorporate Body Brush into your routine for a few minutes daily. For optimal results, use it before your shower to enhance the experience.

Conventional Dry Brushes

Avoid conventional dry brushes made with synthetic material. They are petroleum-derived, and they release microplastics on your skin and the environment. Not eco-friendly, healthy, or sustainable:

  • Plastic handles: conventional dry brushes have plastic handles (often polypropylene or other synthetic plastics). Toxic and polluting. Plastics can contain bisphenols (BPA/BPS) and phthalates, which are endocrine-disrupting chemicals
  • Nylon bristles: wear down over time and release thousands of tiny plastic fragments. They carry toxins like BPA or promote inflammation, though long-term human impacts remain under study. Nylon can also retain moisture, fostering bacterial growth compared to natural alternatives. Environmentally, non-biodegradable nylon contributes to ocean pollution. As plastic, nylon can release microplastics through friction against skin. It may also contain chemical additives

Greenwashing Dry Brushes

Avoid Greenwashing dry brushes made by brands that pretend to be sustainable, eco-friendly, and claim to be made with safer materials when they are not. They will use misleading marketing claims to convince you to buy their products.

Many came with bamboo-based dry brushes, but they still have nylon bristles, making the part that touches your skin in contact with microplastic materials (petroleum-derived)!

  • ❌ Not 100% natural: so they claim to use bamboo or other natural materials such s wood in their handle, but they still offer nylon bristles which release microplastics, and they are petroleum-derived. Dry brushing is supposed to be detoxifying, and plastic carries toxins.
  • ❌ Made in China: to source cheaply, unknown working conditions and they requires unnecessary additional resources to the ship them here.

How to Dry Brush

Skin is our largest organ, and dry brushing provides a much-needed boost of blood flow and helps to detoxify the whole body while keeping skin nourished, clear, healthy, and radiant. Dry brushing helps the liver to detoxify the system, while also preparing to receive nutrients from the body.

Dry brushing has been believed to soften fat deposits below the skin’s surface, redistributing them throughout the body and reducing the appearance of cellulite

It improves skin’s texture and tone and preps skin to better absorb moisture. It is recommended to dry brush before showering and follow with organic body oil to complete with a therapeutic massage. As you reach the torso, focus on areas of concern, such as cellulite or stagnant tissue, brushing downward. It increases blood flow for glowing skin.

  • Before showering, begin at your feet, then ankles, and brush upwards with gentle, short, light, and circular strokes – always towards your heart.

  • Take special care around hinges like behind the knees, inside thighs, and underarms.
  • As you reach the torso, focus on areas of concern, such as cellulite or stagnant tissue, brushing downward.
  • Brush in a counterclockwise direction over your belly (this helps to improve digestion!) and then brush from your hands to your heart.

  • To finish, brush down toward your underarms to help flush out toxins + improve lymph drainage. Always use light pressure – the point isn’t to scrub off your skin, but to gently, and effectively get blood + lymphatic fluid moving.

  • After showering, apply organic body oil to enjoy your skin’s glow and your newfound energy.
