Organic Body Wash

Conventional Body Washes

Avoid conventional body washes made with toxic, cheap, and chemical ingredients.

❌ 𝙋𝙀𝙂𝙎 and ingredients that end in “-eth”. Ex: sodium laureth sulfate.

❌ 𝙎𝙪𝙡𝙛𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨: It is what makes lather, yes, foaming body wash is the most toxic

❌ 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚: conventional: parabens, quaternion-15, glyoxal, benzisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, and Phenoxyethanol are found even in many natural products.

❌ 𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚: even the “natural” ones, if they are not disclosing the sources.

Greenwashing Body washes

Avoid greenwashing body washes made by brands that pretend to be organic, natural, and safer when they are not, they will use their misleading marketing tricks to convince you to buy their products.

I even avoid these  preservatives, considered safer:

❌ Ethylhexylglycerin: Classified as an irritant, this substance causes serious eye damage. Severe eye damage was observed in animal testing. Liver effects observed at low doses in repeat-dose studies in rats. This substance is harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effects.
Ethylhexylglycerin: highly relevant, sensitizer in ‘hypo-allergenic’ cosmetics. To report on 13 patients who presented with allergic contact dermatitis caused by ethylhexylglycerin.

❌ Sodium Benzoate: preservative (Bio-accumulative and cancer-causing food preservative)
Sodium benzoate: benzoic acid and vitamin C mix can cause cancer. Capable of causing contact urticaria

❌ Potassium Sorbate: preservative,  Human skin toxicant, or allergen – strong evidence.
Causes serious eye irritation

❌ Benzyl Alcohol, a synthetic ingredient used as a solvent and preservative, has been associated with contact allergy. Known human toxicant or allergen, Human system toxicant or allergen – strong evidence, Associated with immunotoxicity or allergies, Classified as toxic or harmful, Dangerous for the environment. According to pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

❌ Safe synthetic 𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚: it is still synthetic.

Organic Body Washes

💚 Many of you asked for my recommendation for a good body wash! Here you will find the safest recommended brands.

💚 The body wash brands listed on my blog are made with even safer preservatives.
I also mention when a brand offers mild preservatives in one body wash and a more aggressive preservative in another body wash version, so you can pick the safer version.
There are a few body wash brands that are actually not using preservatives since they have a higher pH that allows them to skip the need for preservatives. These products tend to dry the skin:

I was using Dr. Bronner’s until I noticed that it was drying my skin because of that pH, plus Dr. Bronner’s uses fragrance in some of their body wash versions. I switched to Aleavia Body Wash and my skin is so soft now, like baby skin.
