šæHere you will find the best organic and sustainable sports bra made by responsible brands!
Avoid supporting polluting brands that make conventional or greenwashing bras made with toxic material for their profits at the expense of our skin, planet, workers, and community.
There are a few very powerful individuals who take advantage of something that is shared with the rest of humanity for their interest and that is the planet! They make cheap products, made with toxic materials, pollute the environment, they exploit the labor and then sell these to us!
āAvoid conventional bras made with:Ā
āĀ Synthetic material: polyester, nylon, acrylic, spandex, rayon, or polyamide. They are all petroleum-derived! These clothing release 9MILLION plastic microfibers into the ocean every time we wash them. They make up 35% of the primary microplastics found in the oceans!š
āĀ ConventionalĀ Cotton: is considered the worldās dirtiest crop due to its heavy use of pesticides. Conventional cotton requires farmers to purchase seeds every year from AG chemical companies like Monsanto. Roundup Ready Cotton (RR Cotton), has been genetically modified to survive the herbicide weapon calledĀ glyphosateĀ Roundup, invented by Monsanto. Resulting in predictable consequences of stronger weed resistance toĀ glyphosate, which in turn led to an increase in pesticide use. TheĀ glyphosateĀ rate of application per crop year has tripled on cotton farms.Ā
Avoid conventional cotton of any kind. Any cotton brand without the Organic Certification seal is considered conventional = toxic.
DO YOU KNOW: It takes 713 gallons of water to make a non-organic t-shirt.Ā 713 gallons of water is enough for a person to drink for 900 days. š Conventional cotton is considered the dirtiest crop in the world with its 16% insecticide and 7% pesticide use on the planet! You can reduce this environmental and social impact by choosing certified organic cotton.Ā
āĀ Avoid fast-fashion brands: they are polluting our planet!
Avoid greenwashing brands.Ā GreenwashingĀ is when a brand pretends to be natural, and green when it is not. It is a misleading marketing strategy to puc the customers to buy their products,
āĀ Greenwashing Cotton:Ā Even if they claim āorganicā or ānaturalāĀ cotton, if they donāt display the GOTS Certified seal, they may have something to hide.
āĀ Recycled synthetic material: it still releases microplastic when washingĀ
āĀ Controversial manufactory: dresses made by exploiting child labor and in other unfair environmentsĀ
āĀ Viscose AKA Rayon: Viscose Rayon is responsible forĀ deforestation in Indonesia.Ā
Every year,Ā 3.2 billion treesĀ are cut down to make paper packaging or fabrics such as rayon and viscose.
Viscose fabric is made from cellulose thatās been extracted from the bark, wood, or leaves of plants. Itās most often made from bamboo, pine, or eucalyptus trees. Viscose is used to make clothing (especially loungewear and activewear), sheets, and bedding. Viscose is toxic: chemicals are then used to break down cellulose so it can be spun into viscoseāsome of which are toxic. One of the most ubiquitous, and dangerous, is carbon disulfide.ā
āĀ Bamboo viscose: avoid Bamboo viscose AKA Bamboo rayon: It is a bio-based semi-synthetic material created from cellulose fibers from bamboo. Even though bamboo is grown without pesticides, it is made into viscose which requires toxic chemicals (chemicals carbon disulfide, solvents such as sodium hydroxide ā a.k.a caustic soda) and a polluting process. Plus it is mostly made in China! Therefore bamboo viscose is greenwashingĀ
āĀ Modal: avoid viscose that has been made using a closed-loop production process. This more sustainable process also tends to lead to slightly stronger, more durable fabrics.
āĀ Lyocell: avoid Lyocell the processing also omits certain harmful chemicals altogether.
āĀ Lenzing: avoid Lenzing, it is a fiber production company based in Austria.Ā
āĀ Tencel: avoid Tencel, it is Lenzingās trademarked version of lyocell or modal yarn
Organic bras are made with all-natural, safer material that respects us, our skin, the farmer, workers, and the planet
ā Ā GOTS Certified Organic Textile: GOTS is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria.Ā The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) was created to set criteria for how fibers and textiles must be ginned, knitted, woven, dyed, manufactured, and labeled.
āYou can find GOTS Certified Organic Cotton bras, GOTS Certified Organic Silk bras. They are rare since they need to go through a strict certification process so not many brands are qualified to achieve that.Ā
Get familiar with the logo, spot it on underwear šclothing,Ā bedding,Ā kitchen towels, š§āāļøbath towels,Ā linen, š§¦socks,Ā robes, sleepwear, š©āš¼baby clothes, andĀ more.
šBy choosing only GOTS-certified organic, we are sending a clear message to the toxic and greenwashing cotton companies: their marketing strategies are not working with us. By not supporting their brands, we are reshaping the market for better and more responsible products. š
