Organic Laundry Stain Removers

Many of us do not realize how toxic our daily household detergents can be!

They contain chemicals, irritants, and pollutants that affect not only sensitive individuals, pregnant women, the elderly, pets, children, and wildlife, but all of us, too! Yet, they are sold in regular grocery stores as harmless products.

When someone is wearing a garment that has been washed with a conventional detergent, I can recognize it right away from its typical toxic fragrance. I can even smell this toxic mix of chemicals that comes from home laundry rooms when I walk by on the sidewalk. Dryer sheet pollutants contaminate the air around us and reach long distances through dryer vents

Conventional Laundry Stain Removers

❌𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡: contain toxic ingredients and chemicals that are cheap to produce, and harsh on us, the planet, and the environment. Contains petroleum chemicals that are toxic and contaminate the groundwater!

Bleach, optical brightener, phthalate, paraben, 1,4 dioxane, dyes, filler, sulfate, and fragrances.

They are linked with asthma and respiratory damage, skin allergies and irritations,  hormone disruptor, carcinogen, development, endocrine and reproductive toxicity, posing cancer, and environmental hazards including acute aquatic toxicity.

Plus their thick, plastic packaging is an eco hazard, along with their smelly, toxic fragrances that you can detect when you are anywhere near someone who has been using such products.

❌ The majority of “antibacterial” products contain hazardous chemicals listed under “active ingredients.” They can have corrosive, flammable substances, they can potentially burn skin, eyes, and lungs. Look out for the pesticide “triclosan,” toxic for fish and wildlife! Yes, my vegan, environmentalist, and animal friends!

🔎Even if Procter & Gamble tried to reduce the amount of the toxic and carcinogenic ingredient 1,4-dioxane in their Tide detergents, they have a long way to go.

Greenwashing Laundry Stain Removers

❌𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜: they may try to convince you that their product is eco-friendly, with their green packaging and false claims, such as “natural detergents” but they still contain toxic and unhealthy ingredients such as fragrances or ingredients that hurt the environment, such as palm oil, responsible for deforestation, human rights abuse, and animal orangutan extinction
That’s why we need to have the right information that allows us to buy a better detergent to protect us, our family, our pets, and the environment.  Use your nose and eyes. Read the ingredients list. Avoid fragranced products and colored liquid products.
