Organic Panties

Panties touch your skin and they are directly in contact with the most sensitive and intimate parts of your body. When choosing panties you need to look for the safest gentlest, hygienic, and healthy fabric available!

Conventional Panties

❌ Avoid conventional Panties made with toxic material, such as conventional cotton or synthetic, petroleum-derived material, and sprayed with harmful chemicals like formaldehyde. They are toxic and unhealthy, endocrine disruptors, and they create infections, rashes, and odors, as they prevent your skin from breathing and regulate its temperature.

Conventional Cotton Panties: they contain harmful chemicals, pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers. It irritates the skin and causes allergies. They can also increase the risk of developing cervical cancer, as conventional cotton may contain traces of
carcinogenic substances that can be absorbed by the body.

🌎 Conventional cotton is considered the dirtiest crop in the world with its 16% insecticide and 7% pesticide use on the planet! Responsible for environmental impact!

Synthetic Panties: They are made with petroleum-derived material, which is unhealthy, synthetic, and responsible for microplastic pollution.  Synthetic panties pollute landfills and take over 200 years to decompose into harmful molecules.

Toxic dye Panties: conventional panties use toxic dyes.

You can reduce this unhealthy system and environmental and social impact by choosing certified organic cotton.

Greenwashing Panties

❌ Avoid panties made by greenwashing brands that pretend to be better safer, natural, or organic when they are not. They will use marketing tricks to convince you to buy their products.

They may not have certification or use controversial material:

Avoid Semi-synthetic fabrics: Cupro, Modal, and Tencel, Bamboo Viscose, Bamboo Lyocell, and Bamboo rayon AKA  bamboo viscose. Bamboo viscose, rayon, and modal go through a chemically intensive process that harms the environment, workers, and local communities.

❌ Avoid Viscose AKA RayonViscose Rayon is responsible for deforestation in IndonesiaEvery year, 3.2 billion trees are cut down to make paper packaging or fabrics such as rayon and viscose.

Viscose fabric is made from cellulose that’s been extracted from the bark, wood, or leaves of plants. It’s most often made from bamboo, pine, or eucalyptus trees. Viscose is used to make clothing (especially loungewear and activewear), sheets, and bedding.

Viscose is toxic: chemicals are then used to break down cellulose so it can be spun into viscose—some of which are toxic. One of the most ubiquitous, and dangerous, is carbon disulfide.

❌ Avoid Bamboo viscose AKA Bamboo rayon: It is a bio-based semi-synthetic material created from cellulose fibers from bamboo. Even though bamboo is grown without pesticides, it is made into viscose which requires toxic chemicals (chemicals carbon disulfide, solvents such as sodium hydroxide — a.k.a caustic soda) and a polluting process. Plus it is mostly made in China! Therefore bamboo viscose is greenwashing

❌ Avoid Modal: viscose that has been made using a closed-loop production process. This more sustainable process also tends to lead to slightly stronger, more durable fabrics.

❌ Avoid Lyocell: its processing also omits certain harmful chemicals altogether.

❌ AvoidLenzing: Lenzing is a fiber production company based in Austria.

❌ Avoid Tencel: Tencel is Lenzing’s trademarked version of lyocell or modal yarn

❌ Avoid Greenwashing Cotton: Even if they claim “organic” or “natural” cotton, if they don’t display the GOTS-certified seal, they may have something to hide.
