According to CBS News: The sparkling water brand with the highest level of PFAS detected by Consumer Reports was Coca-Cola’s Topo Chico, which is popular in western U.S. cities such as Austin, Texas.
It had PFAS levels of 9.76 parts per trillion, the testing found.
â PFAS: The most common PFAS found in drinking water are PFOS and PFOA. Called âforever chemicalsâ because they take so long to biodegrade, PFAS can cause serious health effects including cancer, hormone disruption, & liver and immune system damage. According to Consumer Reports testing, the other sparkling waters besides Topo Chico that include measurable amounts of PFAS are:
“The six lawsuits target the companies that own Arrowhead, Crystal Geyser, Evian, Fiji, Ice Mountain, and Poland Spring. They are variously seeking damages for lost money, wasted time, and âstress, aggravation, frustration, loss of trust, loss of serenity, and loss of confidence in product labeling.â
Each lawsuit uses the same general argument to make its case, beginning with research on the prevalence of microplastics in bottled water. Several of them cite a 2018 study from Orb Media and the State University of New York in Fredonia that found microplastic contamination in 93 percent of bottles tested across 11 brands in nine countries. In half of the brands tested, researchers found more than 1,000 pieces of microplastic per liter.”

If you are dealing with acid reflux it is recommended to use higher pH Human blood has a pH between 7.37 and 7.43. In this study, a pH of 8.8 in alkaline drinking water is recommended for acid reflux.Â
“Unlike conventional drinking water, pH 8 or above alkaline water instantly denatures pepsin, rendering it permanently inactive. In addition, it has good acid-buffering capacity. Thus, the consumption of alkaline water may have therapeutic benefits for patients with reflux disease.”
I drink my water at room temperature, I use it for my daily organic teas, smoothies, veggies soups, rinsing fruits, and produce.Â

đ Icelandic Glacial Water achieves its purity through natural filtration from the Ălfus Spring in Iceland. Rain and snowmelt percolate through ancient lava rock, removing impurities without chemicals or human intervention.
đ It was Tested by Oasis Health App
The spring water filters via volcanic basalt layers, yielding low total dissolved solids (TDS) at 62 ppm and a natural pH of 8.4 for alkalinity. Bottling occurs directly underground at the source, preventing air or contaminant exposure.
There is absolutely nothing added to Icelandic Glacial, just the naturally occurring minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and sodium are present. Harmful chemicals such as fluoride are not present nor added to the water.
Daily tests occur in an on-site state-of-the-art lab, exceeding FDA, WHO, and NSF standards with accreditations for both still and sparkling variants. The Icelandic Public Health Authority conducts regular inspections, confirming compliance and non-detection of PFAS or nanoplastics.
INGREDIENTS: Water from Ălfus Spring on the southwest coast of Iceland
đ AQUA Carpatica Natural Spring Water
AQUA Carpatica Natural Spring Water has a naturally alkaline pH of 8.2. Its exceptional purity stems from sourcing in Romania's protected Carpathian Mountains at the Bajenaru Spring near Vatra Dornei, where millions of years of volcanic filtration through pristine underground aquifers removes impurities while preserving beneficial minerals. Independent tests and official claims confirm it's naturally nitrate-free, sodium-free, with low TDS around 170-200 mg/L, calcium at 52 mg/L, magnesium at 17 mg/L, and bicarbonates aiding digestion and hydration.
Naturally Sparkling from the source â not enhanced (carbonated with CO2 from old volcanoes)
INGREDIENTS: AQUA Carpatica Paltinis Spring, Vatra Dornei Naturally Nitrate FREE (no trace of chemical pollutants)Â
đ Hallstein Artesian Natural Alkaline Still Water
Sourced and bottled directly from rom a protected artesian aquifer 700 feet (214 meters) deep beneath Austria's Dachstein mountain, where low exit temperatures around 5.6°C (41°F) and natural filtration through pure limestone and glacial moraine eliminate contaminants without any human treatment, pumping, or additives.
The water maintains low nitrates (averaging 1.83 mg/L), minimal sodium (0.15 mg/L), low Total Organic Carbon (0.09 mg/L), and moderate Total Dissolved Solids (84 mg/L), preventing bacterial growth and off-flavors while providing balanced minerals. High dissolved oxygen levels above 10 mg/L enhance freshness and potential recovery benefits, with no need for UV or filtration due to its pristine profile.
Considered completely untreated and uncompromised, the purest drinking water on earth. Â
INGREDIENTS: Austria's Dachstein mountain
đ Acqua Panna
Acqua Panna Natural Spring Water maintains high purity through its protected source in Tuscany's Apennine Mountains, where a 14-year natural filtration via volcanic rocks removes impurities while imparting balanced minerals.Â
Sourced at 1,100 feet deep and bottled at the spring without treatment, it avoids contaminants common in surface waters, with official 2022 analysis showing non-detectable (ND) levels for arsenic, lead, nitrates above 0.61 mg/L, PFAS, and most volatiles/heavy metals, well below FDA standards.
Calcium at 32 mg/L, magnesium at 6.3-6.9 mg/L, TDS around 140-188 mg/L, total hardness 100-103 mg/L as CaCO3, and alkalinity ~80-87 mg/L, with ND results for radiologicals (except minor gross beta), disinfectants, and pesticides. Regular quality tests ensure adherence to strict standards, as stated on the brand site.

For Water Utility Customers
Water from a utility can spend 3-7 days traveling through old pipes before reaching your home, where plumbing and fixtures can also influence water quality.
For Private and Shared Wells
The only way to know what's in your well is to perform a complete screen. Some potent carcinogens, like arsenic, have no taste or color.

Fiji Water has been accused of greenwashing through misleading marketing claims about its environmental impact. It was sued for misleading. Sued for Microplastics Contamination (January 2024)
I don't recommend Fiji Water since it keeps having Recalls and serves its water in plastic bottles.
Natural Waters of Viti Limited is recalling nearly 1.9 million bottles of Fiji Natural Artesian Water, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
The recall was for Manganese and bacterial contaminations. The test found that the Fiji bottled water contained manganese and three kinds of bacteria, which may cause health risks for the human body. The recall by Natural Waters of Viti Limited was first issued in March but was announced late last week. For more detailed information, click here to read on.
Arrowhead has been accused of greenwashing through misleading marketing claims about its environmental impact.
Recent lawsuits say Arrowhead, Evian, Poland Spring, and other water bottlers are deceiving customers.
The lawsuit against Arrowhead bottled water, advertised as â100 percent mountain spring water,â argues that itâs the â100 percentâ thatâs deceptive. âReasonable consumers do not understand the term â100 percentâ to mean â99 percent,â â98 percent,â â97 percent,â or any other percentage except for â100 percent,ââ the complaint reads. In other words, consumers expect a product thatâs labeled as 100 percent water to contain exactly 0 percent microplastics.
The Mountain Valley Spring Water has been accused of greenwashing through misleading marketing claims about its environmental impact.
Class Action Lawsuit Claims Mountain Valley Spring Water Contaminated with Carcinogens
The 47-page lawsuit claims that despite being advertised as âthe very best bottled water you can drink,â âpurely sourced,â âexceptionally healthfulâ and âfree of pollutants,â Mountain Valley Spring Water was found to contain uranium, arsenic and bromoformânone of which are safe for human consumption in any concentration or amount, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
