Packaging

Avoid Convetional Packaging

❌ Conventional packaging contains toxic and polluting material. Here in California, every product that comes from Amazon has a warning specific to their shipping material:

Proposition 65 Warning for California Consumers

WARNING: Labels on and packing slips in this package can expose you to chemicals including Bisphenol S (BPS) which is known to the State of California to cause reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov

CA Prop 65 warning

❌ Bisphenol A (BPA): Used in polycarbonate plastics and the linings of metal cans, BPA is an endocrine disruptor linked to reproductive issues, developmental problems, and certain cancers

❌ Perfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS): Known as “forever chemicals,” PFAS are used in non-stick and water-resistant packaging. They are associated with liver damage, immune system dysfunction, and increased cancer risk

❌ Phthalates: Found in PVC and other plastics, phthalates are endocrine disruptors that can cause reproductive issues and developmental problems

❌ Polystyrene (Styrofoam): This material is a carcinogen and contributes to environmental pollution

❌ Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, and Hexavalent Chromium: These metals are toxic and can be present in packaging inks or materials. They pose serious health risks, including neurological damage and organ failure

❌  Non-Biodegradable Materials: Many packaging materials, such as plastics and Styrofoam, are not biodegradable and contribute to pollution and waste accumulation.

Avoid Greenwashing Packaging

Avoid greenwashing shipping and packaging material made by brands that pretend to be sustainable or safer when they are not. They will use their marketing tricks to convince you to buy their products.

Curbside recycling can have a huge impact on what heads to our landfills; some types of waste need a specialty recycling center to get the job done.

Fake eco-packaging: They use recycled materials, but they still contain chemicals and remain toxic to the user, workers in the manufacturing process, and the environment.
