Organic Lip Balm

When I buy a lip balm, I choose lip balms made with Certified Organic ingredients, because I want to put on my skin only organic and natural ingredients, especially on my lips.

Did you find that some of your lip balms chap your lips even more? or, are you “addicted” to your lip balm? You may be sensitive and reactive to their ingredients such as fragrances, flavors, and essential oils.

Avoid Conventional Lip Balms

Conventional lip balms contain low-quality, controversial, and unsafe ingredients such as colorants like red 6 lakes, and yellow 5, paraffin, alcohol, preservatives, parabens, petroleum derivatives, and other toxic or undisclosed ingredients such as fragrance, All Ingredients I strictly avoid!

EWG rates Classic ChapStick as an endocrine disruptor, toxic to the organ system, and potentially an irritant to your skin or lungs.

❌ Petroleum jelly (Petrolatum): derived from petroleum. it prevents moisture from entering or escaping the skin, potentially leading to dehydration and reliance on lip balm to maintain the appearance of moisture. 40% of users who apply petroleum jelly to their lips have tested positive for bacteria. This raises concerns about potential infections.

Mineral Oil: petroleum-derived, forms a barrier on the lips that can inhibit moisture absorption and contribute to a cycle of dryness and dependence on lip balm.

Colorants: like red 6 lake and yellow 5

Paraffin: petroleum-derived

Parabens: toxic preservatives

Fragrance: Synthetic fragrances, is a source of irritation for sensitive lips. These artificial scents may contain numerous chemicals and allergens that can cause inflammation and discomfort.

Avoid Greenwashing Lip Balm

Titanium dioxide: Titanium dioxide is classified as expected to be toxic or harmful. Toxic when it is ingested, so avoid sunblock lip balms or lipsticks with titanium dioxide. I don’t recommend lip balm with sunblock unless it is from raspberry seeds.

❌ Natural flavors: made by unknown and undisclosed combinations of ingredients. Just like fragrance, we don’t know what they put in it.

Soy: cheap and often derived from GMO crops. It can be used as soy wax or soy oil.

Lanolin: derived from sheep’s wool

If you find any of these ingredients in your lip balm, replace it with a USDA-certified organic one, which proves it is made with at least 95% organic ingredients, like those listed on this page:

Approved lip products made without controversial ingredients such as lip balms made without artificial flavors. 😍
