Many of us do not realize how toxic our daily household detergents can be!
They contain chemicals, harsh preservatives, irritants, and pollutants that affect not only sensitive individuals, pregnant women, the elderly, pets, children, and wildlife, but all of us, too! Yet, they are sold in regular grocery stores as harmless products.
The majority of cleaning products you will find at conventional grocery stores or online are chemically based and have strong artificial scents and harsh ingredients.🙊 They are mainly chemicals and even their bright colors look so unnatural.🙈
🌎As an environmentalist, it is important that the cleaning products I use are made respecting nature, and animals, and are made with eco-friendly ingredients.
Conventional window detergents contain toxic ingredients and chemicals that are cheap to produce, and harsh on us, the planet, and the environment. They are linked with asthma and respiratory damage, skin allergies and irritations, development, and reproductive toxicity, posing cancer, and environmental hazards.
To keep our house a healthy place, we need to ditch conventional cleaning products and use natural ones! ❌ Besides many popular brands such as Clorox, Ajax, Lysol, Mr. Clean, Arm & Hammer, Up&Up, and Windex, with products rated F- toxic by ewg.org, there are many “greenwashing” products around.
❌ Greenwashing companies are filling their “natural” products with synthetic petrochemical, oleochemical emollients, thickeners, detergents, fragrances, and preservatives. Brands such as Method, Safeway, Green Works (a Clorox company), Babyganics, and Mrs.Meyer’s are still classified as toxic by ewg.org, with products classified as D and F.
❌ Many “natural cleaners” contain controversial ingredients mixed in their almost natural formula such as preservatives, dyes, fragrances, surfactants, bleach, alcohol, quats, hydrogen peroxide, or any other harmful chemicals.
❌Methylisothiazolinone: preservative skin sensitizer, linked to allergies, lung, neurological, and organ toxicity. Plus it is very toxic to aquatic life. Check at the bottom of the page the greenwashing brands.
Since there is no government regulation of the words: “organic” or “ natural.” We need to buy organic products and to spot them we need to carefully read the labels. That’s why we need to have the right information that allows us to buy a better detergent to protect us, our family, our pets, and the environment. Use your nose and eyes. Read the ingredients list. Avoid fragranced products and colored liquid products.
To keep our house a healthy place, we need to ditch conventional or greenwashing cleaning products and use natural ones!
They are a just few natural and organic window cleaners that are safer, not greenwashing, and transparent.
Made with natural ingredients, biodegradable, kid-friendly, and pet-friendly. My favorites are packed in eco-friendly bottles such as glass bottles or sugar cane resin, which reduces the amount of new petroleum-based plastic being used.
On this page will find only the best, most natural, and safest window cleaners on the market, kid-friendly, and pet-friendly.

Branch Basics The Concentrate, I don't recommend this, because it has a controversial ingredient!
INGREDIENTS: Purified Water, Decyl Glucoside, Chamomile Extract, Coco-Glucoside, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Phytate.
Sodium Phytate in-household cleaners according to EWG.org Phosphates in detergent cause lake pollution and eutrophication. Why do we need to pay $50 for a cheap detergent made with sodium phytate responsible for polluting our lakes??!
I prefer Dr. Bronner's: for only $12 you can use it as personal care and household cleaner including dishwashing, safer ingredients, and no lakes pollution.
Sure it is better than Clorox, but why spend all that money on something that is just ok and also associated with general ecotoxicity concerns by ewg.org.
I wish bloggers out there would make more responsible recommendations.
Conclusion:
❌ GREENWASHING, POLLUTING, GREAT MARKETING
I don't recommend FORCE OF NATURE full review here
Force of Nature I don't recommend this because it has a controversial ingredient!
This is a disinfectant, not a household cleaner since its formulation generates a form of chlorine!!
Even though it is much less than in a conventional bleach it is still chlorine!
In fact, the company shttps://amzn.to/3lp90j1tates: "Those individually allergic to Chlorine should avoid direct contact as it may cause irritation with symptoms of redness, itching, and swelling."
Even you are not allergic to it, you are still breathing and touching chlorine. I find chlorine to be also not eco-friendly!
Their chlorine is in their Hypochlorous acid (HOCI) and Sodium Hydroxide (aka Caustic soda) that is formed during the electrolysis of vinegar, salt, and water.
Chlorine and caustic soda sound eco-friendly to you?
I don't recommend Blueland. For a full review check here.
Here you can see their three cleaning products. The tables have all these unnatural colors boosted by synthetic colorants.
INGREDIENTS:
MULTI-PURPOSE CLEANER: made with Synthetic sodium Benzoate, synthetic potassium sorbate
The fragrance is a mix of natural and synthetic blends, which means a toxic blend, and synthetic yellow colorant.
synthetic Sodium Benzoate
BATHROOM CLEANER: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, irritant and polluting, synthetic potassium sorbate, again toxic fragrance and synthetic pink colorant.
WINDOW: Synthetic sodium Benzoate, synthetic potassium sorbate, and blue colorant
I don't recommend Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds.
INGREDIENTS: Water, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Coco-betaine, Decyl Glucoside, Abies Siberica (Siberian Fir) Needle Oil, Picea Glauca (Spruce) Leaf Oil, Citric Acid, Sodium Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Potassium Hydroxide
❌ Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS): it can irritate skin, eyes, and mucous membranes at higher concentrations; studies show moderate acute toxicity (LD50 around 1,000-1,300 mg/kg in rats orally)
