Waterhaul is transforming a problem into new products. They are making their eyewear not with new material like other brands but by sourcing abandoned fishing gear and nets which are the most common and also the most dangerous forms of plastic in our ocean.

 

The Environmental Issue

Ghost Fishing: is the phenomenon where lost, abandoned, or discarded fishing gear (made of plastic) continues to catch and entangle marine life without human control. The entangled and trapped marine life will attract more species, resulting in an ongoing loop of catches. 

 

​Conventional Sunglasses are responsible for polluting the planet. There are lots of sunglasses on the market – but most are made of wasteful plastic and often end up in landfills or our oceans.

 

Waterhaul Sustainable Eyewear 

🌎 Waterhaul was founded by frustrated marine conservationists! They noticed every winter their UK beaches were inundated with ghost gear. Motivated by the environmental impact they developed a mechanical recycling solution to process various forms of end-of-life fishing gear, and produced their first pair of sustainable sunglasses in 2018.  

All the sunglasses on this page are constructed using the strongest form of plastic in our oceans to produce exceptionally sustainable, recycled eyewear.
