Men’s clothing can be made with many different materials. The irresponsible manufacturer produces their clothing using toxic, polluting, synthetic, and cheap materials to increase their profit at the expense of their customer’s health and environment.

Conventional Cargo Pants

Avoid conventional clothing made with toxic dyes and cheap material, often synthetic and petroleum-derived. They contain chemicals that affect health, they are linked to hormonal imbalance and infertility, low testosterone, erectile dysfunction, and other reproductive issues. Exposure and effects to these chemicals are taking the attention of many.

If you experience a low testosterone level, could be a toxic chemical in the men’s clothing.

❌ Synthetic clothes: they are made of polyester, nylon, acrylic, spandex, rayon, or polyamide. These clothing release 9MILLION plastic microfibers into the ocean every time we wash them. They make up 35% of the primary microplastics found in the oceans!

❌ Conventional Cotton: Avoid conventional cotton of any kind.

It is responsible for 16% of insecticides and 7% of pesticides on the planet! 🙈

It takes 713 gallons of water to make a non-organic t-shirt. 713 gallons of water is enough for a person to drink for 900 days. The water consumption of organic cotton is 91% lower than conventional cotton.

Greenwashing Cargo Pants

❌ Avoid greenwashing clothing made by brands that pretend to be sustainable, or eco-friendly when they are not. They will try to convince the products are somehow green without proving it. 

They claim to be organic without certification. It doesn’t matter how big or luxurious is their brand, or if it is a designer line, if it is not made with responsible material in fair production, there is nothing sexy here.

❌ Greenwashing Cotton: Even if they claim “organic” or “natural”  cotton, if they don’t display the GOTS Certified seal, they may have something to hide.

❌ Recycled synthetic material: it still releases microplastic when washing 

❌ Avoid Bamboo viscose AKA Bamboo rayon: It is a bio-based semi-synthetic material created from cellulose fibers from bamboo. Even though bamboo is grown without pesticides, it is made into viscose which requires toxic chemicals (chemicals carbon disulfide, solvents such as sodium hydroxide — a.k.a caustic soda) and a polluting process. Plus it is mostly made in China! Therefore bamboo viscose is greenwashing 

❌ Avoid Modal: viscose that has been made using a closed-loop production process. This more sustainable process also tends to lead to slightly stronger, more durable fabrics.

❌ Avoid Lyocell: its processing also omits certain harmful chemicals altogether.

❌ Avoid Tencel: Tencel is Lenzing’s trademarked version of lyocell or modal yarn
