Stye

Organic Remedies for Styes

Here you will find the most organic and natural remedies for styes.

If you got a stye, also called a hordeolum, you know how annoying and uncomfortable they are.

These red, painful lumps, pimple-like, are caused by bacterial infection and appear near the edge of your eyelid. Styes are often filled with pus. They tend to form on the outside of your eyelid, or on the inner part of your eyelid.

  • External hordeolum: it might look like a pimple, it appears at the base of your eyelash. Most are caused by an infection in the hair follicle.
  • Internal hordeolum: A stye inside your eyelid. Most are caused by an infection in an oil-producing gland in your eyelid.

There is an association with acne, rosacea, or seborrheic dermatitis and stye, so you may be prone to developing styes if you are dealing with these.

I talked to and visited eye doctors, ophthalmologists, eye surgeons, ENTs, dermatologists, and acupuncturists, and my intuitive treatment for stye resulted to be the most natural and effective, here it is:

Organic Warm Compress

Warm, wet organic chamomile compresses for 5 to 10 minutes, 3 to 6 times a day. Here is how you can prepare them:

  1. Water: let boil spring water like you are making tea, you need to have sterilized water, I don’t recommend tap water. My favorite is Spring Mountain Valley Water, for my review here. Or you can filter water with these approved water filters.
  2. Chamomile: Add my favorite Organic, plastic-free, heavy metal-free organic chamomile tea brand. Any other tea will burn or sting.
  3. Pour the organic chamomile tea into a cup to cool down, it needs to be warm.
  4. Wash your hands
  5. Cotton Rounds: Soak organic cotton rounds in the tea when they are fully absorbed with the tea, apply to the eye with the stye, and leave there until it is cool, for a few minutes. Here my fav
  6. Dispose of the used organic cotton rounds compress and use a new one each time. You want to avoid spreading infection, another stye formation is very common after the first one.
  7. You can use between 5-10 compress each time and repeat several times a day.
  8. You can help the gland clear itself by gently massaging around the area with your clean finger.
